Abstract
Abdominal pregnancy is a rare condition and potentially life-threatening variation of ectopic gestation within the peritoneal cavity, and it represents a grave risk to the maternal health. Primary abdominal pregnancy is very rare and in most
instances
abdominal pregnancy is secondary, result from tubal abortion or rupture of a previous uterine incision. The conceptus then reimplants onto the peritoneal surfaces, omentum, and bowel. Frequency has been estimated to be 10.9 abdominal pregnancies
per
100,000 live births and 9.2 per 1,000 ectopic pregnancies.
The purpose of this paper is to report our experience with a primary abdominal pregnancy associated with intrauterine contraceptive device, with a brief literature review.
